Does experience matter? I think we can all agree that it does. Whether it’s in medicine, law, or any other profession, we seek out those with the most experience to guide us through significant events in our lives. So, why should real estate be any different?

Interestingly, some buyers or sellers don’t prioritize experience when choosing a realtor to help them buy or sell a home. Instead, I often see people working with agents who lack the necessary experience in the industry. While these agents may be nice, friendly, and responsive, there’s one crucial thing they lack—experience. You’ll see the difference experience makes when you’re trying to secure the home you want or struggling to find a buyer.

In the Portland, Oregon market, for example, there are about 7,000 realtors. In 2023 alone, there were around 21,900 home sales. However, over 50% of those realtors didn’t close a single transaction last year. This statistic underscores the importance of working with a seasoned professional.
